HomeBuild was founded in 2004 by Steve Mlynek with a simple, stubborn mission: help homeowners enjoy beautiful, energy-efficient upgrades to their homes without the stress, the high-pressure sales, and the broken promises that too often define this industry. What started as a small windows-and-doors operation in Chicago grew, year after year, into one of the most trusted exterior remodeling companies in the Chicagoland area.

Steve Mlynek brings more than 20 years of experience in the home improvement industry - and a personal philosophy that's shaped every job since day one: every project is owner-sold, owner-supervised, and owner-approved. That's not marketing language. It's how the company actually operates.
For Steve, this work has never been just about installing products. It’s about building lasting relationships with the families he works with – and creating homes those families can be genuinely proud of for decades. When a Northwest suburbs homeowner calls HomeBuild, they’re not getting passed through a call center, an upselling sales rep, and a rotating cast of subcontractors. For 20+ years, our team has been replacing windows, installing doors, and upgrading siding for homeowners across the Chicago suburbs. Over and over, those same homeowners asked us the same question:
"Can you do my roof too?"
